No fear of a different voice

Censorship is the suppression of speech, public communication or other information which may be considered objectionable, harmful, sensitive, politically incorrect or inconvenient as determined by governments, media outlets, authorities or other groups or institutions.

There in lies the problem. The word ‘considered’ means that it is subjective, as are all human opinions. That is why you need to be curious of other voices and opinions, so as not to be biased or blind in your judgements.

We all know that nothing is right or wrong, it is just an opinion.

Once you leave the myth of law open only to a few peoples’ interpretation, then the reality is that their vested interests cloud their judgement and that leads to a single view being presented as the only viable option. That is OK if you are one of the myth makers, but for the rest it is yet more enslavement to the order of a few.

Decisions on going to war or bombing innocents is far easier when objections are silenced.

In the world that we live in, the mirage is complete. We see the ‘oasis’ of freedom of speech and freedom to have our views, there in front of us, we believe the myth. Yet that is all it is, a mirage. We have actually less freedom than ever.

The myth makers have successfully got us all to believe that reducing our freedoms further is a benefit for our security against ‘terror’. But if you allow censorship to reign, then how will we every know whether the myths that we are aligning too are in fact the right ones or not?

Censorship has always been the tool of the totalitarian regime, and we demonise North Korea and other such states for using censorship. Yet when the ‘good guys’ use it, then that’s OK, it’s in our ‘best interests’.

We live in dangerous times, where it is important to retain or ability to view all sources of information more than ever, so that we can make our own minds up as to which myths are the ones to follow or not.

I often wonder what the censor has to hide, when they close down the alternative voice? If you have faith that you are right, then you will have no fear of a different voice. If you build something that is inspiring for all to follow, there is no need to silence your critics.
